Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve heard our clients say that having a video made was one of their best decisions. Your wedding video will let you relive the wedding day and all the sights, sounds and emotions that go with it. There will be many moments captured that you don’t even remember or didn’t see at all during the whirlwind of events that make up your wedding day. Think about it. Wouldn’t you love to have a video of your parent’s wedding? Your grandparents’? A professional wedding video is a keepsake that not only you will cherish, but will become a prized possession of future generations as well.

COULDN’T I JUST HAVE A FRIEND OR RELATIVE VIDEOTAPE MY WEDDING?
Of course, but unless your friend uses at least two high-end video cameras, tripods, and microphones, you will get a badly lit, off-colored, shaky video with poor sound. We’ve gotten plenty of requests from dismayed newlyweds hoping we can do something to fix their amateur videos. Unfortunately, not much can be done to salvage them. Why not let your friends and family members relax and enjoy the day with you, and leave the video-making to the CLP professionals?

WE HAVE A TIGHT BUDGET. SHOULD VIDEO COST AS MUCH AS PICTURES?
Typically, videos cost as much or more than still photographs. Both still pictures and your video will become cherished keepsakes, but it will be your video that really lets you relive the sights and sounds of your wonderful day – all the happy emotions, the music, and the personalities of your family and guests. A wedding video, properly created, will be a joy to you. One that is made by an amateur or a low-end videographer will only showcase their lack of proper equipment and experience. Our wedding videos not only represent our talent, but also our investment in time and equipment. If you want a video that you will truly enjoy forever, you need a video company that is serious about their art, and is committed to serving their customers. A video company with these qualities will have prices that reflect this commitment.

WHY ARE TWO CAMERAS NECESSARY?
For your ceremony, using only one camera can yield an amateur-looking video that is unpleasant to watch. Picture your processional for example. Unlike most amateur videos, the cameraperson gets a shot of each bridesmaid coming down the aisle toward the camera. When she arrives at the alter, the cameraperson must swing around to catch the next bridesmaid, and finally, the bride. This creates an ugly blur across the screen. When there is another view from a second camera, this "swish pan" can be covered up in the editing process by switching to the other camera view. The same process happens whenever the primary camera is changing shots or focusing. Another plus is that you get to see another angle of the proceedings which makes your coverage more comprehensive as well as more visually interesting.

WON'T THE VIDEOGRAPHER BE A DISTRACTION AT THE WEDDING?
The videographer and photographer have a tall order. Get the shots everyone wants to see, but be discreet. We have heard clients say they barely even noticed us. That’s a victory to us. We respect the intimacy of your day and remain low-key at all costs. There is no additional lighting used at the ceremony. Your reception may require the use of small lights, but our state-of-the-art camcorders require very little light to get a good image.

HOW SOON WILL I GET MY VIDEO?
It takes many hours and a lot of care to craft the raw video and sound recordings of your wedding into a finished product that you will enjoy watching for the rest of your life. We strive to have your video ready within six weeks of your wedding day. Sometimes it takes a little longer, but the results are ALWAYS worth the wait.

HOW LONG WILL MY VIDEO BE?
That depends on what happens at your unique event and what options you pick. Most CLP wedding videos run about 75 minutes. We also offer optional highlight videos that run about ten minutes. Many couples watch their highlight videos throughout the year, especially with friends and family and save the full-length video for special occasions. Your CLP cameraperson will arrive an hour before the start of your ceremony so that a true assessment of camera and microphone placement can be made. This approach not only works best, but allows us to keep the cost of your wedding video from getting too high.

HOW MUCH DOES A WEDDING VIDEO COST?
Wedding videos can range from just a few hundred to several thousand dollars.
CLP Wedding Videos start at less than $900. We have yet to see anyone produce a video for less than we do that you would want to watch more than once, or be proud to show your family and friends. We truly feel that we offer the best available value in wedding videos.
